There are probably 100 million photos of kids riding this sheep around the world but I bet not many of them have orange plaid snowveralls.
Crisp, clear, clean and beautiful.
A crow that was hanging out at the Landscape Arch Trailhead.
Landscape Arch TH.
First day of the 2016 and our first Park. Arches.
Landscape. Which was supposed to be called Delicate but they got the two names mixed up on the map.
There were far more people at Arches than I thought there would be. Thankfully, so we could take each others pictures.
Comtemplating Pine Tree Arch. Arches National Park

Early morning fence railing at our campsite in Moab.
Our dogs, Plato and Mishi, loving the snow and openness.
This is where our tent was. The melt marks are from our body heat as we slept.
Canyonlands VC was closed for the winter but that was okay. We still got to see a lot of amazing stuff.

Early settler ruins in the Canyon of the Ancients.
We saw a herd of Wild Mustangs as we came into Hovenweep. They were beautiful.
This had been on our list almost as long as The Grand Canyon. Hovenweep was beautiful.
We were the 9th – 12th people to some to Hovenweep NM that day. We showed up about a half an hour before closing and had the place completely to ourselves.
The trail down to the canyon at Hovenweep.
A great house on the edge in Hovenweep.
Some of the walls in Hovenweep are pretty exposed. A lot of our history is pretty fragile.
Hovenweep Castle.
Hovenweep was beautiful. Especially with the snow. The placement of the structures confused me a bit. Many of them were along the rim of the canyon but not in a position to be defensible or a good lookout post, weird.
Maybe you noticed I really like saying and also typing the name Hovenweep. Hovenweep, Hovenweep, Hovenweep.
Navajo NM was one of my favorite places on the trip.
A native house display in the V.C. of Navajo NM.
Betatakin Ruin in Navajo NM. The climate was reversed here. Down in the valley there were Aspens and Conifers. Up on top of the mountain was the desert brush. Cool.
Trying to
Figure out
The telescope.
Not quite got it yet.
Trying to take it all in.
Betetakin Ruin. As opposed to Hovenweep the ruins were down in the canyon.
Wupatki looks so unassuming from the entrance.
Wupatki has a lot to offer if you look around.
Chilling on the overlook.
The keyhole shaped doorways of Wupatki.

Wupatki’s main Pueblo.
The Wupatki tribe built their houses into and around the rocks. I also like saying and typing Wupatki. Wupatki, Wupatki, Wupa…
All our sleeping stuff wrapped in a tarp. I picked up the board in Flagstaff because the pistons to hold up the rear door failed.
What the back of the car looked like. The little place with the rubber mat is where the dogs rode.
This place seemed fake. The lines of the hills were too straight and the trees didn’t seem to fit. But there you are. Nature follows rules that we don’t quite understand yet.
There was something truly startling about Sunset Crater NM.
Sunset crater had some vicious landscape.
This was a big deal for us. We wanted to see this forever. I’ll admit our first view was a total let down. the whole place was socked in. You couldn’t see more than a hundred feet.
So we did the Jr Ranger program first. Grand Canyon’s newest Jr Rangers.
All bundled up and ready for bed.
Our first morning At the Grand Canyon.
Asher in the Kolb brothers’ house.
It had been a long and fairly exhausting trip. The little ones needed some extra snuggling. Grand Canyon NP.
One of the peaks in the Grand Canyon turned into an island.
So happy to see The Canyon.
Islands in the Grand Canyon.
The first real glimpse we had of the Grand Canyon
They are smiling, I promise. The light was in their eyes. Grand Canyon NP.
The Canyon was truly breathtaking.
The sun below and the clouds above made for some very surreal shots. You can see the Glory (The rainbow around the shadow of my head.) in the lower right-hand corner.
One of Asher’s dreams was to see a rainbow over the Grand Canyon. Well there you have it. First try.
Some of the views we got of The Grand Canyon were truly amazing.
Pointing something out. Grand Canyon NP.
Happy to see The Grand Canyon finally
The lighting kept changing so we kept taking pictures.
Lookout house. This is where we were when the clouds finally began to part.
